Okir: Analog 7/29/2013 A

Okir-Analog 7-29-2013A

I attended open rehearsal for the Cabrillo Music Festival this evening, and brought my drawing materials. The conductor was Carolyn Kuan. The first piece was a hella rousing Symphony No. 3 by Christopher Rouse. The piece was inspired by Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 2, which he called his “symphony of iron and steel.” My physical response to the crashing percussion caused me to break the brush end of my beautiful prismacolor double-ended pen after about 10 min. of forceful strokes on the paper. This was the first time I had drawn to something really stirring, loud, and live.
