Back to the Cabrillo Music Festival open rehearsal this evening. I had expected the Kronos Quartet, but instead it was a recap of Christopher Rouse’s Symphony #3 again. It sounded much more together this evening. This time, I decided to come with multi-media paper that I had “prepared,” that is, I brushed a wash over several papers that I wanted to used tonight. So this was my haptic response to Rouse’s symphony. Marin Alsop calls Rouse’s music “visceral,” and I certainly agree. It felt very angular and firey.
