The final piece rehearsed this evening was Kevin Puts’ Concerto for Flute, with soloist Adam Walker. The piece felt much lighter, but, along with the warbling of the flute, there were also some interesting percussive moments, particularly the rhythmic clapping section. Accordingly, my marks were lighter, less jagged than in the previous two pieces. The straight lines on the upper left are responses to the clapping.
And, latest news: I’m excited to say that I’ve been invited by a friend to sit IN the orchestra (facing the conductor) during open rehearsal next August 7. The line-up for that evening: Andrew Norman – Unstuck; Philip Glass – Symphony No. 10; Enrico Chapela – Magnetar (w/cellist Johannes Moser). I’m really looking forward to this!
